New Year Goals…

By Kira On December 29, 2011 2 Comments

I LOVE Christmas! I also love this time after Christmas…it is calm, not a lot going on outside the house, there is time to just be home, time to clean the house, put away ornaments, organize new toys and items. I love this time! I also love that as I get the house ready to start back into the new year there is time to reflect on this past year…the good times, the rough times, the struggles and the victories. Times when I can see God working in our lives, times when I have drawn near to him and times when I should have drawn nearer but instead allowed the world to pull me away. The thing I find about reflecting and listening for God’s nudgings is it allows me to see places where I can grow or change and allows me to refocus my life. Weekly Menu – Grain Free and Using Produce from Bountiful Baskets

By Kira On July 10, 2011 2 Comments

I think Saturday mornings are one of my FAVORITE mornings of the week as I get to pick up our Bountiful Baskets produce basket! It is always fun to see what we get! This week we got Bananas, Apples, Apricots, Plums, Pineapple, Figs, Spinach, Cauliflower, Broccoli, and Tomatoes! Along with picking up my produce basket on Saturdays I also try to menu plan for the week so I can plan to take advantage of all the fresh produce we have.

I am really excited about my menu for this week as it uses all my vegetables from the produce basket (fruits are always used up very easily for snacks or desserts at our house) and for the most part follows a grain free / sugar free theme!! Going grain free / sugar free has been something I have been striving to do for awhile and yet struggle

Menu Plan Monday 4/7/11

By Kira On March 7, 2011 No Comments

This week I am somewhat cheating on my Menu Planning. I decided to cut back on the amount of grains we are eating in our diet as it seems that has become the base for alot of our meals and I would like to focus more on fruits, vegetables & proteins. With this in mind I have decided to copy a weeks worth of meal ideas from www.wellnessmama.com. Wellness Mama promotes grain free living and while I am not planning on going completely grain free I love the idea of using more veggies in our diet (this is a area I somewhat struggle with as in the past vegetables have been primarily a snack food or maybe a side dish but not an active participant in the main course). I also LOVE the idea of trying new

Menu Plan Monday – 12/6/2010

By Kira On December 6, 2010 1 Comment

Wow, I almost forgot it was Monday again! Not sure how that happens so frequently…Thanks Alana for posting your menu plan as it reminded me that I still needed to post mine!

We have a few evening activities this week so we will be taking advantage of the freezer meals I have put away. I am also trying something new this week…typically I do not plan much for weekend meals as we eat left overs or just use items on hand to create meals. This week though I have planned a crock pot meal for Sunday. I will try to prep this on Saturday evening and put it on to cook prior to leaving for Church Sunday morning, this way we will have a hot lunch ready when we arrive home! I am thinking this will make the afternoon go a bit smoother as well as be

Menu Plan Monday 11/7/10

By Kira On November 8, 2010 No Comments

I am not sure where my mind was today but somehow I managed to forget it was Monday! So here is my Menu Plan Monday post, just a bit late.

I was really excited to see as I planned this weeks menu’s my stocking up work paying off. I spent a total of $10 on groceries for this week at the grocery store!! How?? No meat to buy (120lbs of chicken in the freezer & 1/2 a beef coming tomorrow), No produce to buy (spent $16.50 with the produce basket and have tons of produce!!) this left me with only a few dry goods needed for the week!! Now we have a pretty laid back week as far as evenings go so hopefully I will be able to stick to this plan and not spend any extra.

Monday
