Happy New Year & Menu Plan

By Kira On December 31, 2011 No Comments

Happy New Year Everyone!! Are you planning anything fun for this evening? We are planning to have a family slumber party with some friends and their kids this evening. Exciting day for my kids who typically don’t get to do slumber parties or sleep overs. Should be a fun filled evening of good food, fellowship and I’m sure some kid craziness! My kids helped me make some Muddy Buddies earlier (ya not really a sugar free / grain free but a family tradition :-) ) to bring tonight and I am working on some fun count down activity bags for the kids. FUN times ahead!!

So on a different topic…Menu Plans. This coming week I am planning some simple tried and true budget friendly recipes. They are for the most part Sugar Free / Grain Free / Dairy Free aswell.

Hope everyone had a GREAT weekend!! Ours was good but bus and went way too fast!! Anyways I am trying to get back into routine this morning. As for meals this week we are on week 3 of our paleo journey and it is going good so far…I think I said before I am sticking with it 100% at home (as this is were the majority of our meals/ snacks are consumed) but when we are out and about I am being more lenient at this point.

So here’s the menu for this week…

Sunday – We had Caprese Oven Omelet

Monday – We eat at Home Group on Monday – this would be one of those lenient times :-)

Tuesday – Chili & Salad

Wednesday – Gumbo

Thursday – Paleo Orange Chicken & Broccoli

Menu Plan – better late than never :-)

One thing that really helps with simplifying meal times for me is Menu Planning! Though it does not always get done on time it :-). I usually try to do this on Saturdays so I have time to get the shopping done over the weekend and then am ready for the week when Monday comes. However, this past weekend was a bit crazy at our house.¬† My husband was out of town so it was just me and my 3 little people :-). Saturday consisted of picking up the produce basket at 8:30am, Dentist appointment for all three kiddos at 10:00am and a Birthday Party at Chuck E. Cheese ‘s from 2:30-5:00. In between these events we attempted naps and house cleaning. Sunday was not much better with Church in the morning and a Super Bowl party in the afternoon/evening. This left very little menu planning time untilClick here to continue reading

First Menu Plan of the New Year!! How are you doing on your New Years Resolutions?? I am excited to say that so far I am on track with my goals!!

Ok now for the Menu Plan :-)

Monday – Tomato Rotini Soup w/ Flat Bread Bread Sticks

Tuesday – Potato Soup (I am hoping to freeze a few meals worth of this)

Wednesday – Chicken Tacos

Thursday – Freezer Meal

Friday – Freezer Meal

Saturday – Leftover / mini frozen meals

You will probably notice this year at least for the next few months that I am going to try to plan a couple meals a week as freezer meals and try to cook one meal a week that will re-stock my freezer supply. This will save me some stress and time as it is easier to cook one big meal than multiple smaller meals (also saves
