Happy New Year & Menu Plan

By Kira On December 31, 2011 No Comments

Happy New Year Everyone!! Are you planning anything fun for this evening? We are planning to have a family slumber party with some friends and their kids this evening. Exciting day for my kids who typically don’t get to do slumber parties or sleep overs. Should be a fun filled evening of good food, fellowship and I’m sure some kid craziness! My kids helped me make some Muddy Buddies earlier (ya not really a sugar free / grain free but a family tradition :-) ) to bring tonight and I am working on some fun count down activity bags for the kids. FUN times ahead!!

So on a different topic…Menu Plans. This coming week I am planning some simple tried and true budget friendly recipes. They are for the most part Sugar Free / Grain Free / Dairy Free aswell.

Simplifying Life

By Kira On February 4, 2011 3 Comments

Well, once again I have been absent for awhile…at least in the blog world that is :-) We are in the process of making some changes in our life this seems to have made my blogging time a little less available.  A common thread in my life recently has been the feeling of needing to simplify…simplify household chores, simplify meals, simplify spending (being more frugal). And the need to focus more on the important aspects of life…spending time in God’s word, teaching my kids God’s word, spending focused time with my kids, spending focused time with my husband.

These thoughts have been rattling around in my head the past few days and with them has come the reminding of some things I have heard in the last few weeks or months. I thought I would share them and then try to

Baking Projects around our house!

By Kira On January 5, 2011 No Comments

Ok, so I mention below that it had been a busy day! Well, my day picked back up and I did not get this post finished so rather than rewrite the whole post I am just leaving it and letting you know that these were yesterdays projects :-).

Whew! It has been a busy day around my house!  I have had several cooking projects I have wanted to do for awhile and finally just tackled them all this morning.  It took me all morning (well maybe a bit more than all morning :-) )but I made Butterscotch Cinnamon Rolls, Bread Sticks (baby friendly), Baby Cookies, and Potato Soup. Did I mention I was also chasing after 2 3yr olds, 1 2yr old, entertaining a 7 month old and helping my 7yr old with her school during this time. Oh ya, and

Organizing all the art work…

By Kira On November 4, 2010 No Comments

My oldest daughter is very creative and spends lots of time coloring, drawing and writing stories.  This is great except for the piles of papers that accumulate over the course of the week or even the day depending on how many of these projects she does at one sitting. I have tried to suggest leaving all the projects in one notebook so we can just put the notebook away to save once it is full but inevitably we still end up with papers everywhere as she wants to display them or give them as a gift to Mom or Dad. So…the daily question is always what to do with all the papers that get set all over the house. At least that was the daily question up until I stumbled upon these cute art portfolios at Michaels a few weeks ago.Click here to continue reading

Simplifying Christmas Cards with Shutterfly

By Kira On November 2, 2010 No Comments

I am always looking to simplify my life, especially as we move into the Thanksgiving & Christmas Holiday Season. Now with that being said…I LOVE getting the Christmas cards in the mail from friends and family and enjoy sending my own out as well. The thing with my Christmas cards is that I don’t like just sending a simple card…I like being creative and adding pictures and commentary to my cards. This was fine when I was first married, worked part time & had no kids leaving plenty of time to spend creating a creative Christmas card. However 4 years later between 3 kids, homeschooling & working a full time job (even if I do work at home) I just can’t seem to come up with the time to create a creative Christmas Card.  This is why I was soo excited when I stumbled upon Shutterfly’s Click here to continue reading
