New Year Goals…

By Kira On December 29, 2011 2 Comments

I LOVE Christmas! I also love this time after Christmas…it is calm, not a lot going on outside the house, there is time to just be home, time to clean the house, put away ornaments, organize new toys and items. I love this time! I also love that as I get the house ready to start back into the new year there is time to reflect on this past year…the good times, the rough times, the struggles and the victories. Times when I can see God working in our lives, times when I have drawn near to him and times when I should have drawn nearer but instead allowed the world to pull me away. The thing I find about reflecting and listening for God’s nudgings is it allows me to see places where I can grow or change and allows me to refocus my life. Count down to CHRISTS Birthday – Candy Cane

By Kira On December 14, 2011 No Comments

As we draw close to CHRISTmas I felt the desire to spend time daily with my kids preparing our hearts for this day. In our house it seems we are easily caught up in the worldy excitement that is put on this day and I have felt a strong desire to focus in on the TRUE meaning. For the next 12 days (14th-25th) we are going to use different symbols and Christmas crafts to focus on Jesus :-).

We will also be continuing to read a portion of the Christmas story daily using The Story of Christmas Advent Calendar.

For today’s symbol we started with one of my kids FAVORITE Christmas candies…the Candy Cane. I love that you can take such a simple candy and use it to share the Love of Christ!

We started our morning out by reading

Count Down to Christmas – Day 5

By Kira On December 6, 2010 No Comments

Yes, I am behind again on my posts so I will be doing multiples tonight to try and catch up :-)…that is if I don’t fall asleep while posting :-).

Yesterday (Day 5) we attended the “Journey To Bethlehem” Live reenactment of what it would be like if you were in Bethlehem on the night Jesus was born. One of the local Seventh Day Adventist churches puts this on every year and they do an amazing job!! Everything from the arrival were you pick up your FREE tickets that give you your family name (group you will be going through the reenactment with) to the entertainment while you are waiting your turn to go through, to the actual reenactment itself is done exceptionally well!

The reenactment is complete with Roman Soldiers who are a bit gruff and like to order you around, shop keepers who try to sell you everything

Count Down To Christmas – Day 4

By Kira On December 4, 2010 No Comments

Today was our Visit Santa Day and Cut Down a Christmas Tree Day.

We started the day off with a visit with Santa, a super cute photo and some cookies. My 3yr old was super excited about this visit! He has been asking for days about seeing Santa and was sooo excited to give Santa a hug! The visit went great! Their was NO Line! The photographer was awesome! And to make it a little better…the picture was FREE! I am always on the look out for free pictures with Santa (have you checked out the Santa picture prices at your local mall?!?!? They are a bit more than what I am willing to spend) and was excited when I took a detour the other day and happened upon the sign outside of Whites Boots announcing FREE Santa Photos! As an added benefit I found that I really like

Count Down to Christmas – Day 3

By Kira On December 3, 2010 No Comments

It’s FRIDAY!!!! So we had a relaxed day…

Today during preschool / daycare we watched Frosty the Snowman for our Christmas activity as we were pretty low on numbers and the kids were not real into doing a project.

For my family Friday nights have become a family night of sorts, we usually let the kids stay up a bit later than usual and have something fun for dinner. Dinner tonight was a new recipe that I thought turned out great!! So I figured I would share it with you….Meatball Subs with Fries :-).

Meatball subs fresh out of the oven!

served with some homemade fries...yummm

I was very impressed by how easy this recipe was as well as how good it turned out! Kind of reminds me of
