Count down to CHRISTS Birthday – Candy Cane

As we draw close to CHRISTmas I felt the desire to spend time daily with my kids preparing our hearts for this day. In our house it seems we are easily caught up in the worldy excitement that is put on this day and I have felt a strong desire to focus in on the TRUE meaning. For the next 12 days (14th-25th) we are going to use different symbols and Christmas crafts to focus on Jesus :-).

We will also be continuing to read a portion of the Christmas story daily using The Story of Christmas Advent Calendar.

For today’s symbol we started with one of my kids FAVORITE Christmas candies…the Candy Cane. I love that you can take such a simple candy and use it to share the Love of Christ!

Count Down to Christmas – Day 6

Today for our count down activity we made Candy Cane Reindeer. This is a fun easy project…only trick is completing the reindeer before the little people eat the candy cane!

For this project you will need:

* A Candy Cane

* 2 wiggly eyes

* little pom pom for the nose (red if you are making Rudolph)

* Pipe Cleaner (brown or red)

* A Hot glue gun (could also use Elmers White glue if you don’t have a glue gun, just plan for extra drying time)

Directions:

1. Cut your pipe cleaner in half

2. Taking 1 piece of your pipe cleaner, cut it in half (now you should have 2 short pipe cleaners and one longer one)

3. Take your long piece of pipe cleaner and twist it around the crook of the candy cane leaving an even amount sticking up to form the start
