Count Down to Christmas – Day 6

By Kira On December 6, 2010 Under Count Down To Christmas!!, Craft

Today for our count down activity we made Candy Cane Reindeer. This is a fun easy project…only trick is completing the reindeer before the little people eat the candy cane!

For this project you will need:

* A Candy Cane

* 2 wiggly eyes

* little pom pom for the nose (red if you are making Rudolph)

* Pipe Cleaner (brown or red)

* A Hot glue gun (could also use Elmers White glue if you don’t have a glue gun, just plan for extra drying time)

1. Cut your pipe cleaner in half

2. Taking 1 piece of your pipe cleaner, cut it in half (now you should have 2 short pipe cleaners and one longer one)

3. Take your long piece of pipe cleaner and twist it around the crook of the candy cane leaving an even amount sticking up to form the start of your antlers on each side

4. Twist the short pieces of pipe cleaner about 1″ in on each side of the longer piece of pipe cleaner. This will give you 3 prongs on each antler. You may want to add a dot of hot glue to the base of the pipe cleaner where it is twisted on the crook to keep it from spinning on the candy cane.

5. Hot glue on each of the wiggly eyes and the pom pom nose.

6. Enjoy your completed tree ornament!

Here is a picture that is a bit closer up of the finished project
